Castillo de Santa Barbara, is one of Europe's largest medieval castles and from the top, offers great views over Alicante and the bay, the honey coloured structure blends in well with Mount Benacantil.
This cosmopolitan city offers the best of both worlds from classic heritage to a busy modern culture. In the Roman times it was called Lucentum 'City of Light', you can still visit the old ruins, just half an hour outside Alicante.

The trenet, (Also known as the tram) a small train that runs along the coast from Alicante to Denia for 93 Km, built in 1914, hugs the cliffs above the N332 highway. It passes through stunning landscapes and crosses deep gorges.
